Multivitamin may shield ozempic users from hidden nutrient shortages
NCT ID NCT06981936
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a daily multivitamin tablet can prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies in people using GLP-1 drugs (like Ozempic or Saxenda) for weight loss. These drugs suppress appetite, which can lead to low nutrient intake. The trial will compare a multivitamin to a placebo over 12 months in 150 adults with obesity. Researchers will measure blood nutrient levels to see if the supplement helps maintain healthy levels.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Balance Tablet (multivitamin and mineral supplement)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that taking a daily multivitamin helps prevent nutrient deficiencies in people using GLP-1 drugs for weight loss.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-phase trial. The supplement may not prevent all deficiencies, and results may not apply to everyone. There is little risk from the supplement itself.
