Your tooth, your graft: new study pits DIY dentin against standard bone filler
NCT ID NCT07362394
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares using a patient's own ground-up tooth (autologous dentin graft) versus a standard cow-bone graft (xenograft) to repair bone defects behind the second molar after wisdom tooth removal. About 34 adults with deep gum pockets will receive one graft type on each side of their mouth. Researchers will measure gum healing, bone regrowth, and pain over 12 months to see which works better.
