Blood clot and laser combo may tame wisdom tooth pain
NCT ID NCT07748585
First seen Aug 05, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether placing a special blood-derived clot (titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin) in the socket and applying low-level laser therapy can reduce pain, swelling, jaw stiffness, and painkiller use after impacted wisdom tooth removal. Sixty adults having a lower wisdom tooth extracted will be randomly assigned to receive one of these treatments, both, or neither. The study measures recovery over the following days to see if these approaches improve healing and comfort.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) placed in the extraction socket, and low-level laser therapy applied to the surgical area.
- What this could lead to
- If effective, these approaches could offer a drug-free way to ease pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness after wisdom tooth surgery, potentially reducing the need for painkillers.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, and results may not apply to everyone. The procedures carry typical surgical risks, and the added benefits over standard care are not yet proven.
