Summary

This study tested two common antibiotics, cefoxitin and piperacillin-tazobactam, to see which one better prevents surgical site infections after a complex pancreatic surgery called pancreatoduodenectomy. About 967 adults having this surgery took part. The goal was to find the most effective antibiotic to reduce infection rates within 30 days after the operation.
