NCT ID NCT05504850

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study tested whether a multicultural anti-inflammatory diet is practical and acceptable for racial/ethnic minorities with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Researchers enrolled 18 adults with stage 3 CKD in the Bronx, providing dietary counseling tailored to each person's cultural background. The goal was to see if participants could lower their dietary inflammation score by at least 2 points over 2 months, and whether they liked the diet enough to stick with it.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Multicultural anti-inflammatory diet (dietary counseling)

What this could lead to

If successful, this diet approach could offer a practical way for people with chronic kidney disease to reduce inflammation through food, potentially slowing disease progression.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study (18 participants) with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. Dietary changes can be hard to maintain long-term.
