First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looked at whether measuring a protein called amyloid beta 1-40 in spinal fluid can help doctors diagnose Alzheimer's disease more reliably. Current tests sometimes give unclear results. The study involved 204 people with memory problems. Researchers measured the ratio of two proteins (Aβ42/Aβ40) to see if it improves diagnostic certainty.
