Summary
This phase II trial tested the drug alisertib, alone or combined with fulvestrant, in 96 postmenopausal women with advanced breast cancer that no longer responds to hormone therapy. Alisertib blocks enzymes that help cancer cells grow, while fulvestrant blocks estrogen. The goal was to see if these treatments could shrink tumors. The study is complete, but results are not yet widely available.
