AI maps the way to better heart ablation?
NCT ID NCT07621055
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will test an AI software called Volta AF-Xplorer II during catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation. About 150 adults will be treated in real-world clinics, and researchers will track how well the AI helps guide the procedure. The goal is to see if the AI improves safety and reduces the return of irregular heart rhythms over two years.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Volta AF-Xplorer II AI software (used during cardiac mapping and catheter ablation)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that AI-assisted mapping improves outcomes for people with atrial fibrillation undergoing ablation, potentially reducing repeat procedures.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study without a control group, so results may not prove the AI is better than standard care. The software is already approved, so major breakthroughs are unlikely.
