AI-Powered ECG reading aims to catch heart failure sooner
NCT ID NCT07113223
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 25, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether an artificial intelligence system called Willem™ can help primary care doctors detect heart failure more accurately by analyzing electrocardiograms (ECGs). About 1,968 adults with suspected heart failure or high cardiovascular risk will be randomly assigned to get either AI-assisted or standard ECG interpretation. The goal is to see if AI improves diagnosis and reduces unnecessary tests.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Willem™ platform (AI-assisted ECG analysis device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make heart failure detection faster and more accurate in primary care, potentially leading to earlier treatment and better patient outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a pragmatic trial, but AI tools may not work equally well in all settings or populations. The study is still recruiting, and results are not yet available.
Conditions
