Fat tissue may hold key to blood sugar mysteries in obesity
NCT ID NCT02994459
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at why about one-third of people with obesity have normal blood sugar, while some lean people do not. Researchers will measure how much sugar fat and muscle tissues take up in different groups, including people with obesity who are insulin resistant or sensitive, and lean controls. Participants may also undergo a weight loss program to see how it changes sugar metabolism. The goal is to understand the role of fat tissue in blood sugar control.
