Could a common cold sore drug save ICU pneumonia patients?

Summary
This study looks at whether treating herpes simplex virus (HSV) with acyclovir helps people on breathing machines who have pneumonia. Almost half of these patients have HSV in their lungs, but it's unclear if treating it improves survival. The trial will randomly assign 616 participants to receive acyclovir or no antiviral therapy to see if it reduces deaths.
