New scan could reveal hidden diseases

NCT ID NCT07464132

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a new radioactive dye called 68Ga-NI-FAPI for PET/CT scans. It aims to better detect diseases like tumors, heart problems, and lung scarring by targeting a protein linked to tissue damage. About 30 people, including healthy volunteers and patients, will take part to see how well the scan works.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

68Ga-NI-FAPI (a radioactive imaging agent)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a more accurate way to diagnose and monitor various diseases involving fibroblast activation, such as tumors and fibrosis.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The imaging agent may not clearly distinguish all disease types.
