Sugar water injection may ease shoulder pain without surgery
NCT ID NCT07688902
First seen Jul 07, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether injecting a simple sugar water solution (5% dextrose) into or around a partial rotator cuff tear can reduce shoulder pain and improve function. Adults with chronic shoulder pain and a confirmed partial tear receive three ultrasound-guided injections over 9 weeks, plus a home exercise program. Researchers compare outcomes between those who get the injection directly into the tear versus around it.
