Can 4D-MRI spot brain aneurysms before they rupture?

NCT ID NCT06705452

First seen Aug 07, 2026 ยท Last updated Aug 07, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether a special MRI technique, called 4D Flow MRI, can better detect and predict the growth of unruptured brain aneurysms. Researchers will follow adults with these aneurysms, using the advanced imaging to measure changes in the aneurysm's shape over time. The goal is to find early warning signs that could help doctors identify which aneurysms are at higher risk of rupture, potentially preventing a hemorrhagic stroke.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Additional 4D Flow MRI or 4D Flow sequence
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better prediction of aneurysm growth and rupture risk, potentially preventing hemorrhagic strokes.
What could go wrong
This is an observational imaging study, so it won't test a treatment. The findings may not directly change patient care, and the imaging technique may not reliably predict growth in all cases.
