Anesthesia showdown: which drug keeps brain pressure safer during aneurysm repair?

NCT ID NCT07542015

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at 46 adults having elective surgery for unruptured brain aneurysms. Researchers compared two anesthesia methods—propofol alone versus propofol plus ketamine—to see how each affected a measure of brain pressure (optic nerve sheath diameter). They also tracked heart rate, blood pressure, and brain oxygen levels. The goal was to gather knowledge about which anesthesia technique might be safer, not to cure or treat the aneurysm itself.
