First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study followed 404 older adults who had surgery for a broken hip to see how long they lived over the next 10 years. Researchers checked whether early signs of Alzheimer's disease in the brain (measured in spinal fluid) or memory problems before the fracture were linked to higher death rates. The goal is to understand how brain health affects long-term survival after a serious injury.
