What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

VET3-TGI (a modified virus that targets and kills cancer cells) and atezolizumab (an immunotherapy drug)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors that have not responded to other therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, first-in-human phase 1 trial with only 60 participants. The virus has never been tested in people before, so safety and effectiveness are unknown. It may not work or could cause unexpected side effects.
