Magic mushroom therapy targets depression in debilitating diseases

NCT ID NCT06782724

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) can safely reduce depression and anxiety in adults with COPD, ALS, multiple sclerosis, or atypical Parkinson disease. 108 participants will receive either two moderate-to-high doses or two very low doses, along with therapy sessions. The goal is to see if the higher doses provide fast and lasting relief over six months.
