First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests if using scalp nerve blocks and a sedative drug called dexmedetomidine can reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers and prevent confusion after brain tumor surgery. About 2000 adults having elective brain surgery will be randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups. The main goal is to see how much opioid pain medication is needed in the first two days after surgery.
