Summary
This study tests a computer alert that notifies doctors when a patient is about to move from short-term to long-term opioid use. The goal is to help doctors review the patient's pain and risks before prescribing more opioids. About 200,000 patients will take part, and researchers will track whether the alert reduces overdose rates.
