New brain cancer treatment delivers drug directly to tumor

NCT ID NCT02861898

First seen Jun 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people with a newly diagnosed aggressive brain cancer called glioblastoma. The treatment delivers a drug called cetuximab directly to the brain tumor through a thin tube in an artery, after temporarily opening the blood-brain barrier. The goal is to see if this method, added to standard therapy, is safe and helps people live longer without the cancer growing.
