Brain cancer breakthrough? new trial delivers drug directly to tumors

NCT ID NCT02861898

First seen Jun 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way to give the drug cetuximab to people with a newly diagnosed aggressive brain cancer called glioblastoma. The drug is delivered directly to the brain through a small tube in an artery, after temporarily opening the blood-brain barrier. The goal is to see if this approach, added to standard treatments, is safe and helps people live longer without their cancer growing. About 33 adults whose tumors have a specific protein (EGFR) will take part.
