New drug aims to boost stroke recovery in major trial
NCT ID NCT07167550
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tests whether the drug Dimephosphon can help people recover better after an acute ischemic stroke. About 184 adults aged 35-80 who had a stroke within the last 24-72 hours will receive either Dimephosphon or a placebo intravenously. The main goal is to see if more patients achieve functional independence (modified Rankin Scale score 0-2) by day 15.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Dimephosphon
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new treatment option to improve functional recovery after an acute ischemic stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 3 trial, but the drug is not yet proven effective for stroke. The study is relatively small (184 participants) and results may not apply to all stroke patients.
