First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This pilot study from Mayo Clinic tests whether a virtual lifestyle behavior training program can help people with chronic migraine have fewer attacks. Sixty adults with chronic migraine for at least one year will be randomly assigned to either the lifestyle program or a sham education session. The study will also look for biological markers that may predict who responds best to the program.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a drug-free behavioral program that helps people with chronic migraine have fewer attacks.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage pilot study with only 60 participants. The sham comparison group also receives education, so the true benefit of the lifestyle protocol may be modest or unclear.
