Experimental prostate cancer therapy gets green light for one patient
NCT ID NCT06836648
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This is a special, single-patient program for someone with prostate cancer who has run out of standard options. The treatment, called X-PACT, combines a drug called methoxsalen with a phosphor device and targeted X-ray energy to attack the tumor directly. The goal is to control the cancer locally and possibly stimulate the immune system to fight it.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
X-PACT (a combination of methoxsalen drug, a phosphor device, and X-ray energy)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide local tumor control and possibly trigger an immune response against the cancer, offering a new option for patients with few choices.
What could go wrong
This is a single-patient compassionate use, not a formal trial, so results may not apply to others. The treatment is experimental and risks are not fully known.
