Hand splint wrist angle may boost recovery after tendon surgery
NCT ID NCT07489235
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares three different wrist positions (bent back, straight, or bent forward) in a 3D-printed hand splint used after flexor tendon repair. About 64 people who had surgery on finger tendons will be randomly assigned to one of three splint positions and follow the same rehab program. Researchers will measure finger movement, pain, hand function, and satisfaction at 6, 8, and 12 weeks to see which position works best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
3D-printed dorsal blocking orthosis (hand splint) with different wrist positions
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify the best wrist position for a hand splint to improve finger movement and reduce pain after tendon repair surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 64 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and the different wrist positions may not lead to meaningful differences in recovery.
