Mirror, mirror, in my hand: can simple exercises heal tendon injuries?

NCT ID NCT07152548

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether task-oriented exercises and mirror therapy can help people regain hand function after flexor tendon repair. 66 adults aged 18-45 will do specific hand tasks and use a mirror to trick the brain into thinking the injured hand is moving normally. The goal is to improve range of motion and daily hand use.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

task-oriented exercises and mirror therapy

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a simple, non-drug therapy to improve hand movement and daily function after tendon repair surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with no control group, so results may not be conclusive. The therapy requires active participation and may not work for everyone.
