Vibrating platform could be key to soothing aching knees
NCT ID NCT07382037
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether standing on a whole-body vibration platform while doing hip and knee exercises reduces pain and improves function in people with patellofemoral pain syndrome (a common cause of front knee pain). Forty adults aged 18 to 40 will be randomly assigned to either real vibration or a sham device that only makes noise. The goal is to see if adding vibration to standard strengthening exercises provides extra relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Whole-body vibration device
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to ease knee pain and improve function for people with patellofemoral pain syndrome.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The sham device mimics sound but not vibration, which might not fully blind participants.
