Can a phone app replace the Doctor's office for knee pain?
NCT ID NCT07557784
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 6-week telerehabilitation program (done at home with remote guidance) works as well as in-person rehab for people with patellofemoral pain, a common knee condition. About 106 adults aged 18-45 will be randomly assigned to either remote or face-to-face sessions. The goal is to see if remote care is not inferior for improving pain and knee function, while also being more convenient.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
telerehabilitation program
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that remote rehab is a good alternative to in-person sessions, saving time and travel for people with knee pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (106 people) testing non-inferiority, so results may not apply to everyone. Remote rehab may not work as well for some individuals.
