First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested if adding social gaming (like earning points and interacting with others) to a weight loss app helps people lose more weight. 243 adults with overweight or obesity and at risk for type 2 diabetes used the app for 12 months. The goal was to see if the gaming features led to greater weight loss and more social support compared to the app without gaming.
