Weight loss drugs may free young adults from blood pressure meds

NCT ID NCT07364175

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether powerful weight loss drugs (like semaglutide or tirzepatide) can lower blood pressure enough for young adults (ages 18-40) with obesity and early-stage hypertension to stop taking daily blood pressure pills. Sixty participants will either receive the weight loss drug or standard care (medication and lifestyle advice). The goal is to see if weight loss can control or even eliminate the need for lifelong hypertension treatment.
