New splint design eases jaw pain for TMJ sufferers
NCT ID NCT05362201
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new way to design a jaw splint for people with a common jaw joint problem (TMJ disc displacement). Instead of the usual method, doctors used a computer analysis called VTO to find the best splint position. 20 adults with confirmed TMJ disc displacement took part. The goal was to see if the VTO-designed splint improved jaw function and reduced symptoms better than the traditional approach.
