NCT ID NCT07620873

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 17, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether watching a virtual reality (VR) video before kidney stone surgery can lower anxiety, boost knowledge, and improve self-care. About 90 adults scheduled for surgery will be split into three groups: standard education, standard VR, or a special VR with built-in quizzes. Researchers will measure anxiety, knowledge, and cognitive load before and after the intervention.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
virtual reality education
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help patients feel less anxious and more prepared before kidney stone surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 90 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The benefit over standard education may be small.
