VR body image boost: could 3D tech ease Post-Surgery mental health struggles?
NCT ID NCT07668492
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding 3D reconstruction and virtual reality to standard body image counselling helps patients feel better about their body after weight-loss surgery. 80 adults on the waiting list for bariatric surgery will be split into two groups: one gets traditional group counselling, the other gets the same counselling plus VR images showing how they might look after losing 15% and 25% of their weight. Researchers will track weight, body image concerns, anxiety, and depression over three years to see if the VR approach improves outcomes.

- If it works, this could provide a new way to help patients feel better about their body after weight-loss surgery, improving their mental health and quality of life.
