New drug combo aims to shield young transplant patients from deadly immune attack

Summary
This study tests whether adding the drug vorinostat to standard care can prevent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children, teens, and young adults receiving a bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant for blood cancers or disorders. About 43 participants will receive vorinostat alongside usual GVHD prevention medicines. The goal is to find the best dose and see if it lowers the chance of developing GVHD, a serious complication where donor cells attack the patient's body.
