NCT ID NCT07235228
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a daily synbiotic supplement (Vivatlac) can change the gut bacteria of people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Twenty adults with moderate to severe IBS will take either the supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers will compare stool samples to see if the supplement shifts the types of bacteria in the gut.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Vivatlac Synbiotic (a mix of nine probiotic bacteria strains)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a dietary supplement that eases IBS symptoms by improving gut bacteria balance.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply widely. The supplement may not change gut bacteria or symptoms significantly.
