First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase II trial tests a combination of two targeted drugs, venetoclax and ibrutinib, in people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma. The study includes patients whose cancer has come back or is hard to treat, as well as some untreated patients with high-risk features. The goal is to see if this drug pair can control the disease better than standard treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
venetoclax and ibrutinib
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a more effective way to control CLL without chemotherapy, potentially leading to longer remission.
What could go wrong
This is a phase II trial, so results are still early. There are risks of serious side effects like infections or bleeding, and it may not work for everyone.
