Computer alerts aim to Fine-Tune Life-Saving drug timing in deadly shock

NCT ID NCT06709573

Summary

This study is testing a computer alert system in hospital records to help doctors decide when to add a second blood pressure medication (vasopressin) for patients with severe septic shock. It will enroll 300 adults in a specific ICU to see if the system can create two groups: one that gets the drug earlier and one that gets it later, based on the dose of the first drug. The main goal is to see if the computer system works for this purpose and to compare patient outcomes between the two timing approaches.
