New device could get heart patients walking faster after procedure

NCT ID NCT07414121

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a special closure device (VASCADE MVP) to stop bleeding after a heart ablation for atrial fibrillation. The goal is to see if it helps patients get up and walk sooner compared to standard manual compression. One hundred adults undergoing ablation will be randomly assigned to either the device or standard care, and recovery time will be measured.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

VASCADE MVP vascular closure device

What this could lead to

If successful, this device could help patients get out of bed faster after heart ablation procedures, reducing discomfort and hospital stay.

What could go wrong

This is a small early-stage study (100 patients) focused on recovery speed, not on treating atrial fibrillation itself. The device may not prove safer or more effective than standard methods.
