Ear zaps after stroke: inflammation fighter?

NCT ID NCT05390580

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study tested whether a mild electrical stimulation on the ear (called taVNS) could reduce inflammation in 40 adults who had a recent stroke from a blocked large artery. Participants received either standard care or standard care plus the ear stimulation. The main goal was to measure changes in blood markers of inflammation over 5 days. This was a small pilot study to gather information, not to prove a new treatment works.
