New ultrasound marker could make breast cancer surgery more precise

NCT ID NCT05547347

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 43 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests a new type of marker that shows up brightly on ultrasound, helping surgeons locate cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in people with breast cancer. The marker is placed before chemotherapy and removed during surgery. The goal is to see if it stays in place and is easy to see, not to treat the cancer itself. About 15 people with locally advanced breast cancer will take part.
