First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study aims to understand why some older adults develop anemia (low red blood cells) without a clear cause. Researchers measured how long red blood cells live in younger and older adults, including those with and without anemia. The study involved 58 participants and used a vitamin (biotin) to track red blood cells over time. No treatments were tested; the goal was to gather knowledge about the condition.
