Ultrasound neck scan may improve safety during anesthesia
NCT ID NCT07315256
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a quick, painless ultrasound scan of the neck to a standard mouth exam can better predict if placing a breathing tube will be difficult. About 160 adults having planned surgery will be randomly assigned to either the standard exam alone or the standard exam plus the ultrasound. The goal is to see which method more accurately identifies patients who may need extra care during intubation, with no changes to their actual anesthesia care.
