Ultrasound neck scan may help anesthesiologists predict tough intubations
NCT ID NCT07315256
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study will check if adding a quick, painless ultrasound measurement of the neck to a standard mouth exam helps doctors better predict when placing a breathing tube during surgery will be difficult. About 160 adults having planned surgery will be randomly assigned to either the usual mouth exam alone or the mouth exam plus the ultrasound. The results could improve patient safety by helping anesthesiologists prepare in advance.
