New Tube-Guiding technique may speed up stomach surgery prep
NCT ID NCT06730984
First seen Jun 22, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether using a small camera (endoscope) to guide the breathing tube into the windpipe is faster and less uncomfortable than the usual method with a video laryngoscope. It involved 132 adults having a procedure called endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to remove early-stage stomach growths. Researchers measured how long preparation took and how patients felt afterward.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that using an endoscope to guide breathing tube placement is faster and more comfortable for patients having ESD.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study focused on timing and comfort, not on curing or treating a disease. Results may not apply to other procedures or hospitals.
