Ultrasound boosts needle therapy for shoulder pain in small trial

NCT ID NCT06222710

First seen Mar 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested whether using ultrasound to guide pharmacopuncture (a type of needle therapy) works better than the standard method for treating shoulder pain caused by supraspinatus tendinopathy. Forty adults with moderate to severe shoulder pain were split into two groups: one received ultrasound-guided injections, the other received injections without imaging guidance. The goal was to see if ultrasound improves accuracy and pain relief. Results may help refine treatment for this common shoulder condition.
