Gentle shoulder moves could ease rotator cuff pain without surgery
NCT ID NCT07656441

Summary
This study looks at whether adding a specific hands-on technique called Mobilization With Movement (MWM) to standard exercises can better reduce pain and improve shoulder function in people with rotator cuff tendinopathy. About 60 adults with chronic shoulder pain will be split into two groups: one doing only exercises, the other doing exercises plus MWM. Researchers will measure pain, function, and tendon changes using ultrasound over 8 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Mobilization With Movement (MWM) plus exercise therapy
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could provide a better, non-surgical way to reduce shoulder pain and improve function in people with rotator cuff problems.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and the added benefit of mobilization over exercise alone is uncertain.
