Can a simple ultrasound spot hidden liver danger in immune disorder patients?

NCT ID NCT06145100

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether ultrasound and stiffness measurements of the liver and spleen can predict a serious condition called portal hypertension in people with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID). Researchers examined 250 CVID patients during routine visits, using non-invasive imaging and blood samples. The goal was to find better ways to detect liver complications without needing more invasive tests.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a non-invasive way to detect serious liver complications in CVID patients, reducing the need for invasive procedures.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The results may not change current care and could be limited by the specific patient group studied.
