Sound waves could replace X-Rays for dental implant planning

NCT ID NCT06017193

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 31, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tests whether ultrasound can monitor bone graft healing after tooth extraction, potentially replacing more invasive methods like CT scans. About 140 adults who need a tooth pulled and a bone graft before getting a dental implant will have their healing checked with ultrasound at several visits. The goal is to see if ultrasound images match the actual bone healing seen in tissue samples, which could make implant surgery more precise and personalized.
