NCT ID NCT06526884

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at a new program at UCLA Health called the Next Day Clinic (NDC). Instead of admitting low-risk patients from the emergency room for conditions like pneumonia or heart failure, the NDC sends them home and schedules a high-acuity clinic visit the next day. The goal is to improve patient care, safety, and cost-effectiveness by reducing unnecessary hospital stays. About 1,080 adults will take part, and researchers will track days alive and out of the hospital, as well as quality of life and patient experience.
