First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a supplement called tributyrin can improve memory, thinking, and walking in people with Parkinson's disease who also have cognitive problems. 45 participants will take either tributyrin or a placebo three times daily for about 90 days. Researchers will measure changes through cognitive tests, movement assessments, and brain scans.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary supplement to help with memory, thinking, and movement problems in Parkinson's disease.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 45 people, so results may not apply widely. The supplement may not improve symptoms and could cause side effects.
